A cast made from the foot of the child J. Burgess Junior, relating to a probate lawsuit (Wormsley versus Burgess) regarding J. Burgess Junior's entitlement to any inheritance left by his deceased guardian, Thomas Look. Look's will indicated that he bequeathed his possessions to John Burgess Junior, but this was contested by Wormsley. Look's possession of the casts, as well as a silhouette portrait, were used as evidence to prove that Look regarded Burgess as his son, and Burgess should therefore be entitled to inheritance (as taking a cast and photo was something a father would do).
