Edward Pritchard was born in Bristol and worked there, in London and in Southampton. He specialised in seaside scenes of Britain and Belgium. This view was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1856. It depicts farmers taking cattle and agricultural produce from Oystermouth at low tide across the sands of Swansea Bay.
