A rare marine painting of a seascape in Holland depicting a choppy, foaming sea with two small fishing boats in the foreground to the left, a third boat behind them in the centre, and another to the right. Two further boats sail in the background to the right, with land on the distant horizon, featuring a windmill on the far left, indicating that this is a Dutch marine painting. Heavy clouded sky, with an ominous dark cloud to the left. The artist is known for his almost impressionistic still life and marine works, using rapid brushwork and textured marks.
