This painting from the artist’s ‘Going Home’ series uses the cinema as inspiration. Painted in a bold cubist style, he portrays his fascination with the escapism from daily life that the cinema brings. Here, he has returned to cinema’s heyday in the 1940s and 1950s, when he would visit the cinema in Glynneath, South Wales, as a child, full of anticipation.
