This is one of a series of three paintings by the artist and is based on the Gulf War of 1991 and donated to the British Red Cross by the artist after the war. Eve Goldsmith studied at Saint Martin's School of Art and later became a writer of novels, short stories and poetry. She has been exhibiting her work since 1948 and is actively working as an artist and writer today. The artist has had many exhibitions in Liverpool, where she lives, and nationally over the years. Her works include oil paintings, drawings, watercolours, sculpture and photography. Her special interest is in the changing light and durability of landscape. In portraiture she aims to capture transience in a sitter's expression, combined with an interpretation of their character.
