View of a road with woman on the left. Douglas market place is on the right with four covered stalls and one table. There are four women, one man and one figure in the market place, and cases of goods among the stalls, some goods on the ground, an item with two wheels and handles by central stall. A building stands behind the market place to the right with 'HOTEL' written in red lettering, and two smoking chimneys, with a street lamp to the right of it. A large building with a tower attached appears in the centre of the painting directly behind market place, with a street lamp attached to it on the left-hand side and a weather vane and a clock on the tower. There is also a steeple and four sets of chimneys behind it, two of them smoking. Another building is behind this to the left, with 'YOUNG' and 'CHAM' written on shop front.
