Cornwall's Regimental Museum covering British Military History from 1702 to the present day. Housing The Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, The Light Infantry, Local Militia, Volunteers and Home Guard Collections.
The collection covers all aspects of The County Regiment of Cornwall. Starting in 1702 with the raising of Fox's Marines; The amalgamation of the 32nd and 46th Regiments of Foot, the award of Light Infantry status to the Cornwall Regiment, amalgamation with 'The Somersets' to form The Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry and finishing with The Light Infantry Collection. The story is told with superb displays of artefacts and memorabilia ranging from badges, uniforms, paintings, photographs, an extensive display of medals which includes all 8 VC's awarded to the men of the Regiment and one of the finest collections of small arms in the country.
We offer wide-ranging research facilities including war diaries, discharge records, attestation books, army lists from 1761 to 2009 and our own database which holds 80,000 records. Assistance is provided by our house historian and volunteer archivists.
