More about

The main building at Eastney Industrial Museum is a scheduled ancient monument. It houses two massive steam-powered beam engines, one of which is usually in steam on the open weekends. A separate building houses the later gas-powered engines. The engines were used to pump dirty water from Portsmouth, a major contribution to public health.
