The Heritage Centre houses an exhibition which tells the story of Lichfield for the past 2,000 years. It is housed in the St Mary's Church building, which stands in the Market Square. The paintings are on permanent display as part of this exhibition.
The painting ‘Woe to the Bloody City of Lichfield’, by Robert Spence, is part of the collection owned by Lichfield District Council. The painting ‘View of Lichfield Cathedral’ by H. J. Smith, is owned by the Lichfield Heritage Centre. Both pictures depict scenes of local interest and are on display in the Heritage Centre to give the public access to them.
