Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres are for anyone who has been affected by cancer. Maggie’s is about empowering people to live with, through and beyond cancer by bringing together professional help, communities of support and building design to create exceptional centres for cancer care. We have a collection of over 1000 drawings, paintings, prints and sculptures. The collection boasts some pieces by key British artists such as Grayson Perry, Eduardo Paolozzi and Anthony Gormley. This collection is spread across the fifteen Maggie’s centres throughout the UK. Maggie’s Cheltenham opened in 2010, the 7th Maggie’s Centre in the UK since our first centre opened in Edinburgh in 1995. Architect Sir Richard MacCormac designed the Centre and the landscape architect was Dr. Christine Facer. Maggie’s works very hard to incorporate art in its centres that will work with the architecture and landscape and help create a safe and comfortable environment for those affected by cancer. Some key pieces of Maggie’s small but significant art collection are displayed in Maggie’s Cheltenham; works by artists such as Clare Mitten and a range of Scottish landscapes and portraits by artists such as Robert Duddingstone Herdman. As well as the painting collection, Maggie’s Cheltenham also has a range of prints and drawings and a Bill Pye water sculpture in the Centre’s grounds.
