Quadrant is North Tyneside Council’s headquarters, opened in 2008, consisting of two adjacent buildings located in the largest business park in the country. Quadrant houses some 1,500 Council employees, as well as the Council Chamber and civic spaces.
In 2010, nearly 100 contemporary artworks from the Council art collection were put on permanent display on all four floors of Quadrant East. Mostly purchased in the 1990s, these oil paintings, watercolours, pastels, and mixed-media works form a ‘collection within a collection’ and feature artists such as Donald Wilkinson, Kate Betts, John Bellany, Norman Mathieson and Gillian Cronin.
A large-scale portrait of Admiral Lord Collingwood, Nelson’s second-in-command at the Battle of Trafalgar, is also exhibited in Quadrant East.
