The Ryedale Folk Museum is a registered charity and began in 1964 and has been expanding ever since. Our historic buildings cover a five acre site, set in the picturesque moorside village of Hutton-le-Hole, showing different aspects of rural life; from the Iron Age Roundhouse and settlement to the 1950s post office. Our natural heritage is celebrated with medieval garths, cottage gardens, a farming area with animals and a cornfield with over 40 species of cornfield flowers.
We also have a programme of contemporary art and craft exhibitions in the Gallery (which is free to visit) featuring textiles, painting and sculpture from some of the best visual artists in North Yorkshire. Details of these and other exhibitions can be found at http://thegalleryatryedalefolkmuseum.blogspot.com/
