More about

The Fusilier Museum, Bury, holds an excellent collection of oil paintings that illustrate the illustrious history of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and its forbearer, the Lancashire Fusiliers. The Fusilier Museum’s art collection consists of around 200 works, which include oil paintings, watercolours and acrylics. These works have been acquired over the past 80 years, often by donation or bequest from former members of the Lancashire Fusiliers. The museum continues to acquire works, especially paintings that document the modern conflicts in which the Regiment has been involved. This includes, for example, scenes from the conflicts in Northern Ireland. Paintings in the collection include ‘The Death of Wolfe’ and a portrait of Fusilier Jefferson VC, who won the only Victoria Cross for the Lancashire Fusiliers in the Second World War.
