The Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Trust’s collection of paintings, drawings and prints by Wilhelmina Barns-Graham (1912–2004) was bequeathed to the Trust by the artist upon her death. The Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Trust exists to enhance the reputation and understanding of Wilhelmina Barns-Graham as one of Britain’s most significant 20th-century artists, and through her legacy supports young people and other individuals to fulfill their potential in the visual arts. Wilhelmina Barns-Graham is best known as one of the St Ives group. She moved to St Ives in 1940 and contributed greatly to the development of British modernist painting. In 1960 she inherited Balmungo House, St Andrews from her aunt, after which point she divided her time annually between the two coastal communities. The Trust’s art collection therefore combines the contents of both of her studios. All aspects of the artist’s life work are well represented. Access is by appointment only.
