Woodhorn is a museum and base for the Northumberland archives situated at the former Woodhorn Colliery Site. It comprises 13 historic colliery buildings, designated a scheduled ancient monument, as well as the Cutter Building which houses displays, exhibition galleries, café, shop, function/education rooms, study centre and archive storage. Woodhorn Museum and Northumberland Archives came together in 2006 as the result of a £16-million development. The development brought together collections of fine art held by the former Woodhorn Colliery Museum and Northumberland County Archives Service.
