Write on Art is sponsored by Art UK and the Paul Mellon Centre. It is an annual national writing competition, started in 2017, that encourages an interest in art history among young people. All UK students aged 15–18 are eligible to enter.

We hope the programme highlights the broader value of sharing ideas about art through writing and research, and underlines the importance of art history as an academic discipline.

Past judges have included renowned figures in museums and galleries, as well as writers, journalists, critics, historians, educators and artists.
