Cast brass/spelter sculpture of Billy Purvis set on a late wooden base. Billy is posed standing with his hands in his pockets, wearing a clown costume painted red, brown and cream. He has green painted shoes. The pedestal is painted black and green to imitate marble. Billy Purvis was a well known comedian and clown, who died in Hartlepool in 1853 and is buried in St Hilda's.
