An image of Broomfield House in Broomfield Park, which has a rural and almost domestic feel to it. Children play and sheep graze in the foreground of the Grade II* listed Broomfield House, part of which dates back to the sixteenth century. The park itself is also Grade II listed and is thought to be one of only three Baroque water-gardens in the UK (the others are Chatsworth and Powys Castle). Broomfield House was acquired by Southgate Council in 1903 and subsequently became a museum. Unfortunately it was badly damaged in a fire in 1984 and the museum was moved and the house shut down. It remains closed.
