In 'Children and Chalked Wall No. 2', Eardley depicts two Glasgow street urchins, a common subject in her work, loitering in front of a wall plastered with graffiti.
In this work, the figures of the children are shifted to the lower-hand section of the composition so that Eardley can lavish attention on the graffiti-covered brownstone wall, punctuated by bursts of colour from the collaged material stuck directly to the canvas.
