A knotted, serpentine form suggestive of intestines that relates to earlier sculptures in Kilkenny limestone such as 'Thinking Allowed' (1989) and 'Ways to Wrap a Stone I, II' (1990), and the artist's knot drawings of the mid 1980s. 'Clench’ is a relatively rare example of small scale sculpture by this artist.
