Osmund was Mayor of Maidenhead for 4 years, in 1946, 1947,1948 and 1949. This portrait was probably painted in 1946, as the sitter appears quite youthful. No information is known about the artist so far. Another portrait of Osmund, as Mayor, was completed by Stanley Spencer in 1951, and is held at the Stanley Spencer Gallery in Cookham. This work is also on Art UK.
