Esther La Cloche, née Patriarche (1731–1801), was the granddaughter of Philippe Patriarche. Patriarche was a former Constable of St Helier and Jurat of the Royal Court, who was responsible for the construction of 16 New Street – a Georgian town house located at the centre of St Helier.

Donated to the National Trust for Jersey by the Merchant Retail Group in 2003, the house has been meticulously repaired and is now open as a Georgian house museum.
