This painting contains portraits of local men. Unfortunately, however, their names have been lost. They are fishing on a part of the river Ivel which has been dammed to form a lake for trout. This was part of the property of a company known as Norton Fisheries which operated along the river between Baldock and Radwell raising trout in hatcheries and fry ponds and growing them in screened parts of the river.
