The king is represented wearing a military uniform with epaulets, and with his sword hanging at his left side. He wears a riding wig with pigtail and holds his cocked hat in his right hand, whilst the other holds the reins. The horse, a portrait of the king’s favourite Arab grey, Adonis, has its right front leg energetically raised and its back legs holding firm, as it is reined in by its rider. The pedestal is in plan a rectangle with arcs breaking forward at the front and back.
