Gerard Langbaine, the elder, entered the College in 1625. He gained an MA and became a Fellow in 1633. He was keeper of the of the University Archives in 1644, Provost of Queen’s and DD in 1646 and wrote literary and political pamphlets. He was a zealous royalist and supporter of episcopacy. He left 21 volumes of a collection of notes in manuscript to the Bodleian Library.
