This icon portrays in a western, modern style, a crowned Virgin and Child standing on a red cloud, the iconographic type entitled in Slavonic 'Joy of those who grieve', introduced in Russia in the seventeenth century. On either side are groups of figures identified (as the sick, the naked, etc.) by Slavonic inscriptions on horizontal banners. The icon may date to 1815 and a silver revetment (riza) dated 1833 is preserved.
