Margaret Morrow Carson, the eldest daughter of William Carson, of Carryduff, Co. Down, married William McCammond in 1853. She died on the 11th September 1895, at Walton, Fortwilliam Park, Belfast. Together they had three sons and one daughter.

Traditionally in Belfast, the female partner of a male Lord Mayor is known as the Lady Mayoress.
