A landscape view from a high vantage point down into a valley with a lake. In the extreme bottom left corner is a tree on a steep curved bank rising up on the right side; at the top of the bank are grazing sheep. The lake is situated in the centre, lit by the morning sun. To the left is a three arched bridge joining the two banks. There are houses and fields on either side. The distant hills are obscured by a sunlit haze, and there are several birds in the air.
