This oil painting on board is typical of the work of Trevor Sutton. His geometrical abstract pictures have defined horizons. He often creates atmospheric light using a cool, pale green with darker green and brown/grey elements. Paint layers are systematically built up with visible brush strokes and the surface finished with an oil-based glaze giving a shimmering effect. Sutton was born in 1948 in Romford, Essex. He studied at Hornsey College of Art and Birmingham and went on to win several awards and prizes. He has exhibited widely and has taught in the UK and Ireland.
