From the English School of the seventeenth century, a gentleman wearing a dark coat and white collar. This was incorrectly labelled 'General Henry Ireton' (1611–1651), who lived locally, when given to Highgate Literary & Scientific Institution, but when the National Portrait Gallery cleaned the portrait in the 1960s they were unable to identify the sitter beyond dating him to the 1650s.
