A caricature portrait bust of Talleyrand – rake, de-frocked bishop, diplomat, statesman, and great political survivor, who had been ambassador to London (for the second time), 1830–1834. The work is part of a collection of seven caricature statuettes and busts from Londonderry House.

Following the July Revolution in 1830, after which one would have expected his work to be greatly appreciated in France – though he was, indeed, to turn against the July Monarchy of Louis-Philippe – Dantan came to England in 1833–1834, where he enjoyed great success, but did not exhibit.
