The upper surface of the stone is worked with a semi-circular drainage channel, 105 millimetres wide along the length of the stone. This broadens at the end which would originally have been built into the wall, and tapers towards the projecting end of the figure. It would originally have narrowed to form a medieval water spout, probably exiting through the figure's mouth.
