Richard Bright was elected fellow to the Royal College of Physicians in 1832. In 1827, he published his research on his important discovery of renal pathology. Bright was the first to discover that the link between albumins in the urine would result to a disorder of the kidneys. The RCP commissioned this portrait posthumously in 1860.
