The sitter here was one of the artist's sisters. Galloway taught at Bangor Normal College and was later Art Mistress at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Girls (1953–1967). Her family ran a successful bakery in King's Street and later on a toyshop. She was a pupil at the old Carmarthen Art School.
