Rochdale artist Walter Kershaw was one of the founder members of the Rochdale Sculptors group which was active in the 1960s and 1970s. This painting celebrates the 1971 Rochdale Arts Festival when the Rochdale Sculptors exhibited their work around the town. Kershaw is well known for his large-scale murals and is based in Littleborough.
