Designed by local architect Friskin, this is one of several models made and displayed following the demolition of the Town House. Made in aluminium at the foundry of Messrs Thomas Brown & Sons, Montrose and completed by Low and Duff foundry, Monifieth. It includes symbols of rope worked round a beam (to represent maritime and jute industries), two birds back to back (representing Strathmartine's Lodgings), scales (justice and the law) and a sword and a row of crosses (possibly a memorial to Black Watch soldiers killed at Loos). The work was originally located at 75 High Street above William Millar & Sons, grocers. When Gardyne’s Land was being restored, Tayside Building Preservation Trust rescued the clock and the Nine Trades gave money to have it restored and put up at 73 High Street above Robertson & Watt jewellers.
