Albert – also known as Albert Junior – was the son of Albert Ludovici (1820–1894). Albert Senior was born in Vienna and became a British citizen. He and his wife Caroline had three children: two daughters and one son. One of the daughters, Marguerite, also became an artist. All of them demonstrated a flair for genre scenes such as this.
