Busy Venice canal scene, looking towards a group of large sailing boats and a gondola moored by an arched bridge to the left. In the distant background to the right there is a domed church, possibly San Giorgio Maggiore. The scene comprises of an eruption of carnival colours; blue, green, red and yellow adorn the boat giving them a highly decorative finish. These colours are reflected in the water below creating even more vibrant colour across the scene.
