A dark and atmospheric watercolour painting of a group of outbuildings near Castle Rushen, Castletown. The dark buildings are made even more oppressive by the central keep of Castle Rushen looming over the building in the background. Unlike most of Knox's watercolour sketches which are untitled and unidentified views of Manx and English scenes, this has been identified as a former smithy near to Castle Rushen in the centre of Castletown.
