Hazy spring landscape looking along the banks of a river, the water just visible in the background to the right, the tiny figure of a fisherman is just distinguishable on the bank. In the foreground to the left a bare tree is painted in great detail, with ivy and lichen covering the lower part of the trunk, with a second tree in the middle distance behind. There is a background of dense undergrowth and bushes, indistinguishable in the hazy spring light.
