A still life consisting of a bowl of red apples, a bottle and a table knife.

The artist is probably John Alvaro Caldas. Born in Manchester in 1932 Caldas moved to London in 1952 where he taught Tango and Latin American dance and enjoyed a successful stage career in the West End. He later left the theatre to pursue a career as a professional drummer with some moderate success as an artist commercially. Caldas died in London in 2006.
