Mary Magdalene embraces the Cross while John and Mary stand together on the right. There are numerous figures on the hillside, including, on the left, a group casting lots for Christ’s garments. Jerusalem is outlined in the distance on the left. Balancing the Crucifixion, on the right, is the Fall of the Rebel Angels, with the good angel, probably to be identified with Saint Michael, flogging a sinner beneath whom is a snake and skull.
