Naval battle scene, with approximately 10 ships visible. In the background is the setting sun, casting its red glow on the choppy sea. In the foreground is the flagship, showing the Union Jack and a string of signal flags. The famous sea battle concluded on 21st October 1805 between Cadiz and the Strait of Gibraltar, with the defeat of Admiral P. de Villeneuve, the French leader, by Horatio Nelson. The victory ensured that Napoleon would not invade England.
