The Honourable Cecilia Cavendish Anderson (1903–1997) is depicted standing, turned to the left, wearing a dark green velvet coat with white fur trim, a pearl necklace, and holding a large feathered fan. Her hair is parted in the centre. She was a student of singing and elocution at the Royal Academy of Music, 1923–1925. As an actress and singer, her youthful career took place on the London stage. In later life she chaired for 38 years the Sussex branch of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Her mother was the popular actress and singer, Isabel Jay.
