Threshing was a common sight in the countryside before the Second World War. The paintings is rather cartoon-like in its style. The artist is known mainly for her portrait work, and staged over 50 exhibitions in England and South Africa. She came to live at the village of Blackstone, two miles from Henfield, in the 1970s.
