This painting depicts a naive subject of a bird sitting on a nest in a tree with 10 eggs, one of which is in the process of being stolen. There is another bird bringing an insect for the mother bird and landing on the snake.

Painted on a prepared, white ground, the paint is very flat and smooth but opaque. The artist Mandu Mmatambwe Adeusi (deceased, date unknown) was a member of the Tingatinga School of painters who are known for using bicycle paint. Adeusi, who was one of E. S. Tingatinga's close friends, created this work some time after 1968. Of Makonde origin, he belongs to the first generation of the Tingatinga School.
