A landscape with country figures on a road through Sherwood. In the centre of the picture is a man in a white smock, riding a white horse. He is leading a brown horse wearing a yoke, and turns to talk to a man with a woman and a child walking in the opposite direction. At the end of the lane, which slopes downwards into the centre middle ground, is another figure with some animals. On the right of the road is a large tree and woodland.
