Duncan Walker is the Curator of the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, Bournemouth. Responsible for its internationally renowned eclectic collection, which ranges from Japanese ceramics and African spears to Victorian oil paintings and Napoleon Bonaparte's wine cooler, he also helps produce the museum's temporary exhibition programme.
Very much a generalist, Duncan has previously worked in museums from Wiltshire to West Yorkshire dealing with fine art, decorative, social, military and natural history collections. He holds an MA in Heritage Studies from Nottingham Trent University and has occasionally lectured in collections management. He has spent much time investigating the collecting activities of the museum's Co-Founder, the hotelier Sir Merton Russell-Cotes (1835–1921) and is currently researching the museum's twentieth-century art collection, especially work by female sculptors.
