In 2015 James Knox was appointed director of The Fleming Collection, which owns the finest collection of Scottish art outside museums. His 'museum without walls' strategy lends individual works to public galleries and also tours themed exhibitions of which the Scottish Colourist show is the standard-bearer.
James previously ran The Art Newspaper for ten years. He has also pursued careers as an author (his latest book is on the Scottish Colourists) and as a consultant on commissioning public works of art.
