Tico Seifert has been Senior Curator of Northern European Art at the National Galleries of Scotland since 2008. He received his PhD from Freie Universität Berlin, where he taught art history from 2003. Tico has published and lectured widely on German, Dutch and Flemish art from the 1500s to about 1900. Areas of particular interest include artists' libraries, the reception of historic art, and artists such as Hendrick Goltzius, Adam Elsheimer, Pieter Lastman, Rembrandt, and Max Klinger, as well as the British printmaker John Baptist Jackson.
Tico has organised exhibitions on themes ranging from 'Dürer’s Fame' (2011) and 'Dutch Mannerism' (2008) to 'Rubens & Company: Flemish Drawings from the Scottish National Gallery' (2016) and 'The Young Vermeer' (2010), and from the Bute Collection (2012) to nineteenth-century Norwegian and Swiss landscape paintings (2015). His most recent show was 'Rembrandt: Britain's Discovery of the Master' (2018).
